    OH! HAI!

you know, i’ve been trying to find your blog for some time, because you always leave such nice and funny comments on mine, but the address on your blogger profile page is wrong — it goes to some weird spammy page that’s like a collection of “hot” “now” keywords and stories and so forth. (i shudder to think what it would look like without AdBlock on.) i finally thought i should try some variations, which is how i got here. fyi.

    anyway,
    hello!
    and
    adorable!

Thank you. Glad you found me. I didn’t realize my address was wrong. I need to fix that. It’s a bit weird anyway, since this is the blog I once shared with my ex-girlfriend who left halfway through my pregnancy with Simone. I have a new blog with one post up on it and am still deciding whether I want to really mommy blog or not. I’m on Facebook though and would love to friend you there if you’re on too.

I was serious about the drawing, btw. I really liked it and would buy it. Is that weird? It’s just so refreshing to see an artistic rendering of my OWN conception experience. Odd, unromantic, perhaps cold, but so deliberate and meaningful. I want Simone to know about it and understand it.

Hi! I’m bionicbrooklynite’s wife and did the drawing. I’m happy to put an ink jet print up on etsy if you really want to buy it. Send me an email and we can decide on a price and stuff . . . and thanks! I’m really happy you like it.

I really do love it. I like it because its an honest representation of what *I* did to get pregnant. It’s so rare that we (lesbians) get to see our lives reflected anywhere in popular culture. Its refreshing to see it in a piece of art. Every time I got on that damn table (17 times + 2 IVFs– got pregnant on an IUI though) and put my feet in the stirrups, it was so deliberate and hopeful. The ways we go about building our families might be foreign to most, and they’re certainly not what most girls dream about when they picture their child’s conception, but we do this with such love.

I want something small. I will be hanging it in my bedroom, and I live in a tiny bungalow. Maybe just an 8 by 11 or 8 by 13? What do you think? And what price is fair?

Thanks for writing me! I’m really excited about this piece.

The original is only about 7×10, so it could go on 8×13 paper nicely. It looks like people usually sell ink jet prints for around $18 – will that work? Also, when I list it for you, i’ll only show part of the drawing (but you’ll get the whole thing) because my mom looks at my etsy shop and it might be a bit much for her . . .

i’ll probably get it up on etsy tomorrow.

actually – maybe 11×14 would be better? it’s easier to find frames that size . . .

      • simonesmom

11 X 14 sounds good. Thank you for thinking of the framing issue. I was thinking of it, but I honestly wasn’t sure about the logistics of making the print

$18 sounds fair. I’ll get on Etsy this weekend and look for it. I Favorited the shop earlier today. I’m atalanta24.

        Thanks!!

Accidentally deleted your last message before I got a chance to read it, but I checked Etsy and saw that you had placed the print up, so I went ahead and purchased it. Thank you so much!! Can’t wait to receive it. 🙂
