Back on the ride

Our amazing nurse practitioner Shawn called last night after my e-mail, and we talked for about a half an hour about Clomid and where to go from here. She calmed my fears about using the drug w/out the benefit of IUI by prescribing me both Clomid and an estrogen supplement to counteract the effect on cervical fluid. I just popped my first Clomid, and we’re looking at doing 2 ultrasounds this month– one with a Reproductive Endocrinologist (RE) scheduled for next Thursday and another one at my gyno’s office on Friday. We’ll go ahead with the at-home inseminations for this month. She also felt that it was time to move on to a specialist. We were already heading that way anyway.

Also found out that my insurance covers Clomid and even injectables if we need to go that far. As the bitchy insurance customer service rep informed me three times, though, “We DON’T COVER IVF or artificial insemination!” Thanks– I wasn’t asking.

  1. Co

What cycle day are you on?

  2. Day 3. We went for the Days 3-7 on Clomid scenario. The doc said either that or Days 5-9– the let your body pick its own egg scenario. I understand that there’s a slightly increased chance for multiples this way, but it’s not that significant. I told the nurse on the phone last night that, at this point, I don’t care if we get quadruplets, but I was mostly saying that to get a rise out of Vanessa.
