Except for our sperm not being unthawed or spun when we got to the cryobank this afternoon, making us 10 minutes late for our appointment at the doctor’s, the insemination could not have gone more smoothly. Our nurse practitioner couldn’t be there, so she had another nurse practitioner perform the IUI– the one who used the wrong speculum on me (the one designed for hetero women who have already had at least one child) last time. Happily there was no repeating of that mistake. There was also no need for cervical dilation as all signs were go. The whole thing was over in a minute with just a little bit of cramping. The cramping went all the way up into my left ovary– the one with the great big healthy cyst, which I took as a good sign. Perhaps she shook that reluctant egg loose. We had a great sample again– 50% motility. The nurse said we had lots of active swimmers.
Now the waiting game again. No home pregnancy tests this month because I already have HCG in my system, ensuring that we would just get a false positive. It will probably be 3 weeks before we really know anything.
