Migration

<!– (from What Narcissism Means to Me) –>

This year Marie drives back and forth
from the hospital room of her dying friend
to the office of the adoption agency.
I bet sometimes she doesn’t know
What threshold she is waiting at—
the hand of her sick friend, hot with fever;
the theoretical baby just a [...]

Mom had to go

Posted by v
I wanted to drop a quick note and let you know that we’re doing OK. I miss Mom. It feels like I should be rushing around to see her, feed her, or check on her. Instead, I have time. I’d rather have Mom.
 But it’s comforting to know that she’s not struggling. She couldn’t [...]

So here we are again

Vanessa’s mom has had another major episode. It started some time last weekend. She was in the E.R. on Sunday and got sent home. Back on Monday and got admitted to St. Francis Beech Grove. Eric (V’s little brother) neglected to call and tell us until Tuesday at 6 PM (ah, teenagers). The initial [...]

Second opinions rock!

posted by Mel
Holy crap. Vanessa called me from the oncologist’s. She and her mom went to get a second opinion. The oncologist feels that an embolism (basically shutting off the tumor’s blood flow) is possible, contrary to what St. Francis’s pulmonologist said, and they’re admitting her to IU Hospital right now for the procedure at 1:30. As I understand it, [...]

8 days of stims, 6 days since the world started spinning in the opposite direction

My estadiol level has recovered. We have 30 follicles all at different sizes. I’m predicting a worst case of 9 ready the day of retrieval, best case 15. The smallest follicle is 7.5mm, and the largest is 15.5mm. We’re looking for 18mm or larger. The nurse this morning said that when the lead [...]
